9:30 a.m. Memorial Ceremony @ City Municipal Complex
11:00 a.m. Carl Levin City Park activities
Lt. General (P) Raymond T. Odierno and Congressman John Carter will deliver the keynote address at the Memorial Day ceremony. This Memorial Day Observance will be held at the site of the Veteran’s Monument, located between the Harker Heights City Hall and the Recreation Center at 305 Miller’s Crossing.
The day’s events will include a parade of veterans’ organizations and other participants beginning at 8:15 a.m. The parade will begin at the Harker Heights High School. It will proceed north on FM 2410 / Knights Way and turn into Miller’s Crossing and continue to City Hall.
The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will feature the traditional wreath-laying to honor those who gave their lives. Lt. General (P) Raymond T. Odierno and Congressman John Carter will address the public as well as the City of Harker Heights Mayor Ed Mullen.
Following the ceremony at 11:00 a.m., Carl Levin City Park will be host to a number of activities for the families. Activities include inflatable jumpers, train rides, and the opening of the Harker Heights outdoor pool. There will also be a variety of food vendors during these activities.
This event is co-sponsored by the City of Harker Heights and the Harker Heights Veterans Council – which consists of organization representatives from the VFW, DAV, American Legion, Purple Heart Association, American Veterans Committee, Veterans Advisor, Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce, as well as local government and military officials.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move indoors to the Recreation Center gymnasium, located at 307 Miller’s Crossing. Water and coffee will be served during the ceremony.
