2008 Queen of Rodeo Killeen. The Rodeo Killeen Committee is proud to
announce the sponsorship of the Rodeo Queen Program for the 2008 Rodeo
Killeen PRCA Rodeo. This is a scholarship program to recognize
scholastic abilities and aspiring equestrian interests in rodeo type
activities. The 2008 Killeen PRCA Rodeo will be held from June 1st to
the 3rd at the Killeen Rodeo Arena.
Contestants for Rodeo Queen must meet the following residency criteria:
• Be a junior or senior female student attending a high school within the Killeen Independent School District OR
• Be a junior or senior female student with a current Killeen mailing address, regardless of location of high school OR
•
Be a full time female undergraduate student (12 semester hours or more)
at any university while maintaining a current Killeen mailing address OR
• Be a full time female graduate student (9 hours or more) at any
university while maintaining a current Killeen mailing address.
Contestants to become Rodeo Queen must also meet the following additional requirements:
• Be the owner of, either personally or within her family, a horse
mount with appropriate tack and equipment for use in the selection
trials and performance of duties as Queen, AND
• Be available from June 2008 to the end of May 2009 in the local
Killeen area to perform duties (outlined below) as the 2008 Killeen
Rodeo Queen.
The selection process will consist of:
• Written application with current photograph of contestant and horse.
• Personal interview with judges.
• Demonstration of mounted equestrian abilities in the rodeo arena –
barrels, flags, obstacles, or other form to be determined by the
Community Affairs Committee.
The Rodeo Queen responsibilities will be:
• Take part in presentation ceremony on during Rodeo.
• Represent Rodeo Killeen and the City of Killeen at selected parades to include the Killeen Christmas parade.
• Act as goodwill ambassador and public relations representative of Rodeo Killeen at selected functions to be determined.
The Rodeo Queen awards will have a total value of approximately
$1500.00 and will consist of a tiara, sash, special buckle, and a
$1000.00 scholarship to the university or college of choice.
Applications must be submitted no later than May 15, 2008.
